Sex Offender Harassment
This past weekend, the Department of Corrections again began their annual Halloween harassment of sex offenders, pornography possessors and anyone else on probation for anything remotely describable as a sex offense. The unbelievable paranoia regarding trick or treaters and sex offenders on probation results in a round up of sex offender probationers by DOC agents assisted by Milwaukee and I assume Waukesha, Ozaukee, Racine and Washington County sheriffs. It’s as if sex offenders only have an opportunity to violate their probation 1 day of the year. If probation agents would pay as much attention to helping offenders rehabilitate themselves as they do to worrying about whether or not they have the next Jeffery Dahmer on their caseload we could all sleep a little better at night. I actually had a probation agent admit to me this week that their ineffective and unnecessary restrictions are simply, in her words,”to cover our butts”. I’m sure there are people out there that feel sex offenders get what they deserve and they shouldn’t even be on probation in the first place, but if we really want a safer community, maybe the focus could be a little more on helping rather than hindering the rehabilative process. If you think you’ve got a beef about the way you’re being treated on probation, let’s hear it. www.reddinandsinger.com

i know this might not help me much considering i live in tennessee but i have been charged with attempted mitigated statutory rape i did not have to register and it was dropped to a misdemeanor.
my probation officer including some of the police officers have been harassing me. for intense on halloween i got into trouble because my mom had put up some halloween decorations on a side table inside the house. they then had me report the following monday were they accused me of passing out candy and dressing up as a vampire.
the next visitation went smoothly except for them telling me i had to find another job. i work at wholesale store that sells furniture and i work in furniture and also stocking. the issue with this was the fact that i work on the floor and could come in close contact to minors.
the next visit was far worse. i had been dropped off at the end of the parking lot by my mother and she left for work. as i walked up to the door some officers including the supervisor asked me if i had been reporting i said yes they then instructed me to give them my phone which was turned off and to empty my pockets and undo my jacket.
they then asked me if i drove so they could do a search i said no i had been dropped off then the supervisor instructed me to follow him and said it seems we have a problem i said with what he held up my phone and then started threatening me with the fact that i was not allowed to have it in the building and that this actions could violate me. mind you it was turned off and i had been dropped off how was i suppose to stay in contact with someone. after that another officer asked me if i was f-ing lying to him about being dropped off and he threatened that if he went to review the security tapes would i be driving and if i had then he was taking me to jail.
when i was in my visit my officer threatened they were sending me back to jail basically over nothing he then told me i had no rights i was not a free person basically making me feel like scum.
after the visit they made me wait outside to be picked up. i was just goin to walk to a nearby friends. they had said i was not allowed to be walking since i dont have a vehicle what else other than calling a cab riding the bus ect am i to do?
i was just want to find out if i can do anything about this. im being treated poorly and i just completed my 3rd bi-weekly visit.
i feel as if im being accused of something far worse.
my case was pretty unfair also i had sexual relations with a girl who had lied to me about being 18. this relationship lasted for about 6 months. any help or suggestions would be appreciated
